The team was back at work on Monday, 27th December after taking a weekend off. I decided that we continue working throughout the holidays and the response from the players was fantastic.
The break came at a time when the team was on a high and I am hoping this has not affected the momentum of the players.
Preview: Kaizer Chiefs vs. Mamelodi Sundowns
This weekend we are facing Mamelodi Sundowns at Soccer City. Sundowns are currently on top of the log and they have been undoubtedly one of the most dangerous teams in the league this season. We are not reading too much into their result against AmaZulu late last year. We know that they are going to come out firing on Saturday.
I prefer though to focus on our preparations. I am happy that all the players are available for this game as there are neither injuries nor suspensions. Every player in the squad is willing to give 110% for the remainder of the season starting with the game against Sundowns.
Jose Torrealba who was given an extended break returned to training on Tuesday and we are raring to go against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Siphiwe Tshabalala who missed the last two games of the season is available for selection against Mamelodi Sundowns despite missing training on Tuesday due to a bout of flu.
January transfer window
We have faith on the players that we have on the squad. People criticized us at the beginning of the season that we did not have quality. I think we have proved through and through this season that we have depth on the squad.
Message to the fans
I would like to take this opportunity and welcome all our fans to 2011. The support from the fans remains crucial and key for the success of the team. This was demonstrated in our last two games of the year in Polokwane and Witbank. I look forward to seeing you all at Soccer City on Saturday, kick off is at 15:30.
