A high powered Kaizer Chiefs delegation paid respect at the funeral service of football stalwart Dr Petrus Rantlai Molemela on Tuesday.

“Ntate Molemela was a great man,” expressed Football Manager Bobby Motaung, who led Amakhosi’s delegation to the funeral. “His contribution will never be forgotten. We are here to support the Molemela family and Bloemfontein Celtic in this difficult time. The people that are gathered here are a testimony that a giant tree has fallen. We trust our presence here will help in the healing process for the bereaved family and friends.”

Motaung was joined at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium by members of the Kaizer Chiefs management, Cecil Motaung, Katang Masemola and Vina Maphosa. Doctor Khumalo also joined, to represent Chiefs from a legends perspective.

The late Molemela was afforded a special provincial official funeral. Representing the government were Free State Province Premier Ace Magashule and Minister of Sport Thulas Nxesi. The football fraternity was represented PSL Chairman Dr Irvin Khoza and Safa President Dr Danny Jordaan.

“This is a befitting tribute of a great man,” saluted Motaung. “Ntate Molemela will be missed, but never forgotten.”

Speaker after speaker described ‘Whitehead’ as a legend and contributor of note. The theme of the funeral was “Legends Never Die”.

Rest in peace, Ntate Petrus Rantlai ‘Whitehead’ Molemela.
