Joseph Molangoane is grateful to be back in the field of play and playing in the Kaizer Chiefs colours following his impressive display in his first start for Amakhosi in the 3-2 win over Polokwane City in the Absa Premiership match played at the FNB Stadium on Sunday, 18 December 2016.

Molangoane made only 20 appearances last season and only recently started to play recently for Kaizer Chiefs due to a contractual dispute with his former club, Chippa United, followed by a disciplinary process with the Premier Soccer League.

Molangoane has since made his debut for the Glamour Boys and is happy that he is contributing towards the success of the team.

“I really missed it (when I was out),” he comments. “I had a really tough period this year and I went through some really difficult moments, but I am so happy to be over that and playing once again. I don’t know how to describe it, just being a part of Kaizer Chiefs is a great feeling and scoring yesterday (against Polokwane City) was just a cherry on top.”

‘Tight’ had made just two substitute appearance this season heading into the Polokwane City match, and learnt a lot from studying games from the bench and finally put that to good use when finally given a chance by coach Steve Komphela. However, the speedy winger credits the team effort for Chiefs’ winning performance and wants the team to continue in that very same attitude heading into the team’s next match.

“I just watch the game and things come to my head naturally - things that I believe we can do better or things we are having trouble with, weaknesses of the other team or if we are having a few problems and I have taken that and used it when given a chance yesterday and some worked,” he says.

“It’s always about the team and I am doing it for the Khosi nation. For me to go in there and score I realised very quickly that it was not about me, but contributing towards the success of the team. The team as a whole came together in the second-half and that enabled us to win it. Going to Durban in the next match (Golden Arrows), it’s important that we start from where we finished and get more points before the Christmas break.”

The Golden Arrows match will take place at the Moses Mabhida Stadium with kick-off at 18:00. Match tickets are sold at TicketPro outlets at Jet, Jet Mart, CNA, Choppies, Edgars and Edgars Active. Tickets for the match will be sold at R60.
