Wednesday – stepped up a gear to beat Dynamos 1-0 in their Castle Premiership match
at Soccer City to move back to the top of the table.
Chiefs striker Kabamba Musasa scored in the 11th minute from a nice move started by
midfielder John 'Shoes' Moshoeu, who penetrated the Dynamos defence. Moshoeu looped the
ball to Dynamos goalkeeper Aime Kitenge who knocked the ball back into play.
Musasa quickly scored off the rebound. The Amakhosi led one-nil at the break.
In the second half Dynamos coach Steve Khombela's charges started controlling the game
but their strikers failed to get through the Chiefs defence.
Dynamos midfielder Simphiwe Mbambo had his chance in the 48th minute but Chiefs
goalkeeper Brian Baloyi knocked the ball back into play.
Although both coaches made several changes, the game failed to live up to
expectations. Chiefs, who beat Wits University 3-0 at the same venue on Wednesday, were
particularly disappointing.
Chiefs coach, Ted Dumitru, reserved Jabu Pule, Arthur Zwane and Patrick Mayo for the
coming Coca Cola Cup final, which will be played at the same ground next Saturday.
As a result of this win, Chiefs have moved from second position to first, after 10
games. Dynamos are still in 15th place, without a win to their name from 10 matches.
