Coca-Cola Cup semifinalists Kaizer Chiefs have noted with regret, negative and damning statements made by Wits FC coach Roger De Sa to various media about what he alleges to have been a shabby treatment given to his club (Wits) VIP guests at the semifinal clash held over the weekend at the FNB stadium.

To make matters even worse De Sa was seen on national television with conclusive evidence on video using the F-word towards the Kaizer Chiefs bench after his side scored their goal. The club is inundated with calls from disgusted supporters and other members of the public who watched the game on TV.

Heard over a national radio station on Monday evening De Sa spoke of the club’s guests not even getting drinks and being treated unfairly at the VIP suites when fellow semifinalists Kaizer Chiefs hosted the event.

"We would like to place on record that we respect Roger's achievements at Wits and his contribution towards uplifting the status and image of his club, but it looks now that his success has gone to his head. We are very appalled by his behaviour of late, saying harmful things about us or to us.

"It must also be noted that all stakeholders in the event were given their ticket allocation as per agreed requirements, including Wits and that Wits were allocated 22 Presidential suite tickets with full catering, 45 Super suites tickets and 50 reserved ‘522’ area tickets, plus 600 open stand tickets.

"Obviously these areas differ in hospitality and order of importance, and that criteria will apply to all guests whether they are Chiefs or Wits guests, and all those involved must appreciate that. Actually, show me 1 can of cool drink supplied to us by Wits when they hosted us recently during the SAA Super 8 Cup clash in Orkney..." said a shocked club spokesman Putco Mafani.

"For Wits to go on national radio and insinuate that they never got proper hospitality is blatant lies which, might mislead soccer loving people and those who want to check if we are able to host high profile soccer events.

"In fact all along Wits have been very anxious, suspicious and too wary of our hospitality and organisational capabilities. Recently we successfully hosted top soccer authorities including 5 FIFA delegates and high government officials in the quarterfinals of the same competition and having De Sa pulling our name down the mud in this fashion is very unfortunate and cannot go unchallenged.

"It is now reaching a point where we should call on them to substantiate Mr De Sa's radio claims, actually he better stick to coaching and leave Derrick (Team manager) and George Mokgotsi to handle other matters, and that, should help sustain his 'beautiful' reputation," said Mafani.

Mafani went on to say his club will lodge a complaint to the Premier Soccer League about what he called "damning public statements with a potential to do damage to the credibility of the Kaizer Chiefs brand", an act which, if left unchallenged would set a precedence about irresponsible utterances which could harm the image of football. More serious is the alleged foul language De Sa used against the club’s bench, if reading De Sa’s lips is anything to go by.

Interestingly De sa is reported to have approached Chiefs mentor Ted Dumitru and apologized to him privately for his strange behaviour but the club insists he should come out and make his regrets known.

All said and done both clubs have an important date this evening in the replay of the prestigious Coca Cola Cup at the same venue at 8pm. The game will be televised later by SABC, according PSL Administration Manager, Dan Leboa.
