Since all the Free State teams were relegated from the Castle Premiership, supporters in this region have had to travel long distance to see Amakhosi in action. That is about to change on Sunday as the Glamour Boys touch down in Bloemfontein, for a clash against Celtic.
It will also be a rare opportunity for striker David Radebe to play display his skills in front of the Bloemfontein crowd after joining Chiefs from Free State Stars two seasons ago.
"As you know, Bloemfontein is the place to be around this time of the year because of the Macufe Festival taking place there," said Mafani. "We were invited by the mayor, who is a big Kaizer Chiefs fan, to be part of the celebrations along with Bloemfontein Celtic - one of the best supported teams in that region."
"This exercise is good for us in that we will be out of league action for about two weeks because of the Coca-Cola Cup. We urge all our supporters from all corners of the country to follow the team to Bloemfontein and be part of the celebrations."
The match will be played at Vodacom Park, which used to be known as Free State Rugby Stadium. Kick-off is at 15:00 and gates open at 10:00. Tickets will be available at the stadium at R20 for open stand, juveniles R15 and R30 grand stands. Entertainment will be provided by Thebe, DJ Sefate, and DJ Leiks.
