Kaizer Chiefs return to league action this afternoon having participated in Nedbank Cup round of 32 last weekend against Maritzburg. The Glamour Boys face Lamontville Golden Arrows in the DStv Premiership at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane at 15:30.

The game is Amakhosi’s second home fixture in Polokwane after hosting Royal AM at the same venue in January.

Both Chiefs and Arrows come into this league fixture after advancing to the round of 16 in the Nedbank Cup at the expense of Maritzburg United and Pretoria Callies, respectively.

When the two teams met in the first round of the season on 31 December 2022, Amakhosi won the game 2-0 in Durban, courtesy of spectacular goals by Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana and Edmilson Dove.

Chiefs are in 5th spot on the log, with 28 points after 19 matches. Arrows, who are in position 13, have collected 22 points in 20 outings.

Kaizer Chiefs defender Austin Dube will start his first match of the season, replacing Edmilson Dove at centre-back. Dove is sidelined by flu.

That enforced change is the only alteration made by coach Arthur Zwane, who has otherwise kept faith in the team that did duty last weekend in Pietermaritzburg.

After trying a different set-up last week, the team will revert to their 4-5-1 formation this afternoon.

Brandon Petersen is the goalie.

The reliable S’fiso Hlanti is at left-back. Zitha Kwinika will play with Dube for the first time at the centre-back. Siyabonga Ngezana will continue on the right as other players recover from injury.

Siyethemba Sithebe and Yusuf Maart will continue in midfield.

Young Mduduzi Shabalala will be in front of the two central midfielders.

Ashley Du Preez and Keagan Dolly will be on the left and right flanks respectively.

Christian Saile Basomboli, who made his debut at this stadium and provided an assist, will lead the attack for Amakhosi.

Dolly wears the skipper’s armband.

Luxolo Badi is the referee this afternoon. He is assisted by Kenny Mamegwa and Simukele Jali. The fourth official is Romeo Matibidi.

Glamour Boys and Abafana Besthende will kick off at 15:30 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. The DStv Premiership match will be live on SuperSport’s PSL Channel 202 on DStv, and various SABC radio stations - with regular updates of the match on Twitter @KaizerChiefs.
