The players and technical staff had a meeting on Tuesday prior to the scheduled live chat with Fabian McCarthy and decided as follows:
We have serious problems, which must be addressed in order to have meaningful and constructive liaison with the CB users. We have read negative messages posted on the website where players are being criticised and labelled as cows and the technical staff accused of bringing Brian Baloyi back in the team because of pressure.
This is unhealthy and unacceptable. The players are fuming at this stage and have decided not to take part any further. We are aware that there are non Kaizer Chiefs supporters are logging on and abusing the facility. The same people are using the CB to serve their alteria motives, which are obviously to destabilise the team.
It’s a pity that because of few disrespectful users the whole chatboard community must be punished harshly.
If the CB users can even suggest that Brian was back in the team because of pressure, then we do not have a future. Such a suggestion is not in god spirit and will help in building the team. That insinuation can easily be interpreted as a sign that we have problems. To call a player a cow - as it has been the case with Patrick Mayo - is the worst medicine that any one can get before any crucial game.
We feel that the CB has become a tool in which people are offered a platform to attack our own players. We are actually ashamed that we have these types of users who claim to be our supporters.
The request and recommendation we have made to management is to suspend or competently close down the CB until solutions have been found to regulate this environment. Constructive criticism is needed and always welcomed but comments without facts are not acceptable.
We are not only talking about negative comments but players being insulted before big games here. This is surprising because we are get positive response from international and local media about our performance yet our own “supporters” have nothing positive to say about that.
Love and Peace!
