Solomons, Duba start for Chiefs against Siwelele

It has been raining throughout the day, with temperatures dropping significantly, creating difficult and uncomfortable conditions for both players and supporters as Kaizer Chiefs prepare to host Siwelele at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto this evening.

Chiefs remain unbeaten in their opening four Betway Premiership matches and will be eager to return to winning ways after drawing in their last outing at Richards Bay FC. Siwelele, meanwhile, are still searching for their first victory of the season, having lost their most recent fixture against newcomers, Milford FC.

Amakhosi lie fourth on the league table with eight points, while Siwelele sit in 14th position with two points.

There is mixed news for the technical team, with Bradley Cross returning, but Thabiso Monyane ruled out for a few weeks due to injury. Two changes are expected from the side that played in Durban, with Dillan Solomons replacing Monyane and Wandile Duba coming in for Luke Baartman.

Coach Fernando Da Cruz will maintain the familiar 4-3-3 formation.

Brandon Petersen will start his fifth consecutive match in goal and will wear the captain’s armband.

The central defensive pairing of Zitha Kwinika and Miguel will also continue together, supported by Solomons on the right and Thabo Moloisane on the left.

In midfield, Lebohang Maboe anchors the trio, with Siphesihle Ndlovu and Mduduzi Shabalala providing support.

On the wings, Pule Mmodi operates from the left while Mfundo Vilakazi occupies the right flank.

Duba leads the attack.

The officiating team will be led by referee Moreki Lekwape, assisted by Elphas Sitole and Romeo Matibidi, with the fourth official being Nandipha Menze.

Kick-off for this evening’s Betway Premiership encounter between the Glamour Boys and Siwelele is billed for 17:30 at the rainy and cold Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto.

Those watching on television can catch the action live on SuperSport’s PSL Channel 202 on DStv, with commentary on selected SABC radio stations. Regular updates will be provided on Kaizer Chiefs’ X (formerly Twitter).
