Lucky Phillips, who last played 10 months ago, was in goals with Brian Baloyi attending his wedding.
Defender Gary Goldstone also made a comeback after a long layoff due to injury. Goldstone immediately slotted well in the Chiefs defence when he replaced Arthur Zwane in the 39 minute, five minutes after Martin Zwane was sent off for a second booking.
Amakhosi took the lead after nine minutes when Siyabonga Nomvete laid the ball to Jabu Pule who fired the ball into the net. Chiefs could have gone two goals up on the 19th minute but Nomvete's header went just wide with Marco Mthembu delivering the cross.
Martin Zwane, returning for the first time since the Classic game, was booked on the 23rd minute and a second yellow card 20 minutes later meant an early shower and three-match suspension for the hard-tackling defender.
Chiefs nevertheless did not experience many problems with the first division side struggling to find their way to Phillips as Cyril Nzama and Patrick Mabedi kept things in order at the back.
Coach Muhsin Ertugral, back from suspension, introduced Robert Nauseb for Luke Petros in the second half.
Nauseb almost scored after 73 minutes following a great cross from Nomvete. With Leopards keeper Joel Masuku well of his line, but Ewe Msukwini cleared the Namibian international's shot off the line.
Cyril Nzama increased the score after 77 minutes following a Nauseb free-kick and Chiefs were safely into the Last 16.
