Kaizer Chiefs return to familiar territory this Sunday afternoon as they host TS Galaxy at FNB Stadium in their 22nd Betway Premiership fixture of the 2025/26 season.
The first round fixture between the two sides ended in a goalless stalemate at Mbombela stadium in Nelspruit last December, but both teams arrive at this encounter with contrasting form. Chiefs have found an impressive rhythm, stringing together three consecutive league victories. Their most recent triumph came in Gqeberha, where they defeated Orbit College 3-1 on Monday.
Galaxy, on the other hand, have endured a difficult run, failing to secure a win in their last eight matches. Seven of those ended in defeat, with their latest setback coming against Polokwane City on Wednesday.
On the league table, Amakhosi currently occupy third place with 39 points from 21 matches, while Galaxy sit 12th, having collected 25 points from 23 outings.
Chiefs have also received a timely boost in the goalkeeping department, with Brandon Petersen returning to action after recovering from surgery. His availability adds depth and confidence to the squad as they look to continue their winning momentum.
Petersen will start after missing five matches, replacing Bruce Bvuma in goal, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo makes way in midfield for Siphesihle Ndlovu, who was one the goalscorers on Monday, and in attack Flavio Silva comes on for Pule Mmodi, making it a total of three changes.
With form, home advantage, and renewed squad strength on their side, Chiefs will be eager to extend their winning streak, while Galaxy will be desperate to turn their fortunes around.
It is once again a 3-4-3 formation for Amakhosi.
This afternoon’s goalie is Petersen.
The back three are Bradley Cross on the left, Aden McCarthy in at centre-back and Given Msimango on the right.
With three consecutive man-of-the-match accolades under his belt, Lebohang Maboe will partner with Ndlovu in midfield. They will have another scorer from last Monday, Wandile Duba, on the left and Thabiso Monyane on the right.
Mduduzi Shabalala, who also registered his name on the scoresheet against Orbit, will work with Glody Lilepo just behind the striker, who will be Flavio Da Silva.
The refereeing team will be led by Moreki Lekwape. He is assisted by Thabo Thinane and Jantjie Dlamini. The fourth official will be Joseph Makhubo.
The Betway Premiership match between the Glamour Boys and the Rockets will kick off at 15:00 at FNB stadium in Nasrec.
The match is live on SuperSport’s PSL channel 202 on DStv and various SABC radio stations. There will be regular updates on the Club’s X (formerly known as Twitter) account, @kaizerchiefs.
