Baloyi: ‘We can turn it around’

Lucky Baloyi has engraved it in his head that for Kaizer Chiefs’ next match against Polokwane City on Sunday, 18 December 2016, he and the rest of his teammates can still turn around the situation at Naturena.

Amakhosi are currently six points off the top of the Absa Premiership in sixth position, and will be looking to kick start the turnaround against a much improved Polokwane side that has moved up the log standings into fourth place.

On Wednesday evening against a stubborn Siwelele outfit, Baloyi put in a commendable performance in the heart of midfield when he started the game in place of the suspended Willard Katsande. Despite the team’s winless streak extending to nine matches, the midfielder has come out in a defiant mood in his comments about the team’s chances moving forward.

“Yes, we can turn it around,” the Limpopo-born midfielder says. “If you take a look at our last performance against Chippa United and the one against Bloemfontein Celtics, there was a huge improvement. It’s all about us as players to keep on pushing and remembering whom we are playing for (Kaizer Chiefs supporters).”

Baloyi also mentions the importance of the squad being united in their quest to regain dominance in the league and also to win their next league match.

“The best way to come out of this (slump) and to improve is for us all to stick together and play ourselves out of this situation. It’s going to take a collective effort from us all to start winning again and that will start with our match this Sunday against Polokwane City.”

Tickets for Sunday’s match are on sale for R40 at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers outlets nationwide.
