“We know what is at stake,” says Bernard Parker ahead of Saturday’s Telkom Knockout semi-final against Orlando Pirates. “We will go all out to get a positive result.”

‘Die Hond’, as the striker is nicknamed, is an experienced campaigner having played 250 matches for Amakhosi and netting more than 50 goals, since joining the club in 2011.

He starred in the Telkom Knockout quarter-final against Black Leopards, providing the assist for Hendrick Ekstein to score, while finishing from the spot in the penalty shoot-out.

Parker also started in the recent league encounter against Orlando Pirates, which Kaizer Chiefs lost 2-1.

“You can’t compare the two matches,” he comments. “The one was a league clash, while this is a cup match. This is a must-win game for us.

“We have always done well in cup competitions, even though we hit a bit of a slump in recent years. But that happens to all big clubs. It’s now about how we go back to our winning ways.”

About Saturday’s cup fixture against the Buccaneers, ‘Die Hond’ remarks: “We know what to expect from our opponent and how they will come at us. We will take a lot of positives from our last game into this one.

“The good thing about this match is that we feel the pain from the loss in October. It’s still fresh in our minds. That loss will be an additional motivating factor going into the game. We want to set things right.”

The Telkom Knockout semi-final between Chiefs and Pirates will be played at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, November 24. Kick-off is at 15:00.

Tickets are already sold out. So if fans don’t have tickets, please don’t come to the stadium.
