“We played a high intensity match on Saturday,” mentioned Middendorp ahead of tonight’s league fixture against Golden Arrows.  “The players gave their all against Chippa United. The game was fast-paced. I just hope the guys have recovered well to give a repeat of Saturday’s performance.”

“We are in a similar situation to that after the Nedbank Cup quarterfinal,” continued a wary Middendorp.

Kaizer Chiefs will switch their radar from the Nedbank Cup to the Absa Premiership when they tackle Golden Arrows at FNB Stadium on Tuesday evening, 23 April 2019.

“Remember, after the Nedbank Cup quarterfinal against Cape Town City, we faced Baroka FC at home for a league fixture,” reflected Middendorp. “We learned a few lessons from that situation, and we have used that to prepare for Arrows.”

Kabelo Mashabela will be out for about a week after the foot injury sustained in the first half in the game against Chippa United.

“It is all about managing the situation, which will include effecting some changes,” Middendorp commented. “It is going to be a tight match considering the high stakes involved.”

The German coach would like to cap qualifying for the Nedbank Cup final with a win to finish the league on a high note.

Arrows are presently in ninth position on the log table and will surely want to get into the Top 8. Amakhosi are currently in seventh spot. There is, however, a five-point difference between the two sides (37 versus 32).

“Arrows are a good team,” Middendorp pointed out. “They have some enterprising players, while Lerato Lamola is a seasoned and proven marksman.

“At the end of the day we want to win and collect the three points. It won’t be easy, but we are ready to win this one.”

The stage is set for an entertaining encounter. Kick-off is at 19:30.
