Kaizer Chiefs will play their penultimate fixture of the 2021/22 season at Emirates Airline Park (popularly known as Ellis Park Stadium) in Johannesburg when they visit Sekhukhune United this afternoon for a DStv Premiership encounter.

Chiefs last played at the historical stadium in 2010 when they visited Moroka Swallows for a league fixture. Amakhosi also used the venue as their home ground in the 1980s and again in the early 2000s before moving to FNB Stadium.

This afternoon’s game is important for both teams as Sekhukhune is looking at clinching a top 8 finish and Amakhosi are fighting hard to end the season in the top 3. Chiefs are currently 4th on the log with 43 points after 28 matches. Sekhukhune are in 10th spot with 32 points in the bag. Both teams have each played 28 league matches

Looking at the teams’ recent form, Amakhosi drew 1-1 against champions Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday at FNB Stadium. Sekhukhune played to a goalless draw against AmaZulu in Durban..

Chiefs have been hit by a number of injuries in recent times with Kearyn Baccus, Lebogang Manyama and Sfiso Hlanti still out. Joining the injury list is Keagan Dolly who will only be able to return to the field of play in the new season. Samir Nurković has also been ruled out through injury and last weekend’s goal scorer Phathutshedzo Nange is suspended after picking up another caution in the previous game against Sundowns.

These injuries and suspension have forced coach Arthur Zwane and his technical team to make several changes.

Notable changes in the line up will see Sabelo Radebe start in Nange’s place. Bernard Parker will come on for Lazalous Kambole and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo who has recovered after missing two matches replaces Dolly.

Chiefs will adopt a 4-4-2 formation in this match.

The goalkeeper is Bvuma.

At the back things remain unchanged. Siyabonga Ngezana and Ramahlwe Mphahlele will be at centre-back. Reeve Frosler is on the left and Njabulo Blom will be on the right.

Cole Alexander will hold the midfield with support from Nkosingiphile Ngcobo in front of him. They will be flanked by Radebe on the left and Parker on the right.

Khama Billiat and Leonardo Castro lead the attack.

Parker will carry the captain’s armband.

Our match officials are referee Victor Hlungwani. He is assisted by Khamusi Razwimisani and Kgara Mokoena. The fourth official is Cedrick Muvhali.

The DStv Premiership match between the Phefeni Glamour Boys and Babina Noko starts at 15:00 at Emirates Airline Park in Johannesburg.

The match will be live on SuperSport’s channel 204 on DStv, with live commentary on various SABC radio stations. The Club will also provide regular updates of the action on Twitter @KaizerChiefs.
