“We had a good game plan and we executed it very well,” reflected George ‘Mido’ Maluleka after receiving the Man of the Match award. “I like it when a plan comes together.”

Maluleka was selected as the chief architect in Amakhosi’s 3-0 demolition job of AmaZulu in the Telkom Knockout Last 16.

“I'm happy that we went through to the next round,” continued the elated midfielder, who scored the opening goal in the 32nd minute of the game. “Credit must go to the entire team.

“As for the goal, I continuously work on my shooting. Often I stay behind on the ground after the official training session is finished to practice shots from long range, because these days it is rare to see me in the box.”

“I will continue to work hard. It’s good to receive accolades after a good all-round team performance. As I mentioned on Thursday at the press conference, it’s all about consistency. We must now keep focused on the bigger objective of winning trophies.”

“We are a big team,” Mido concludes. “Winning trophies is all Kaizer Chiefs are about and this win is a step in this direction as we have now reached the quarterfinal of the Telkom Knockout. This will encourage us going into the next cup match.”
