Happy 47th Anniversary Amakhosi

“Let me take this opportunity to wish the Amakhosi a happy 47th anniversary,” Chairman Kaizer Motaung comments on Kaizer Chiefs turning 47 today. “We are pleased to see and celebrate another milestone in the history of our iconic Club.”

The Chairman spearheaded the formation of the Glamour Boys from Phefeni, Soweto, on 7 January 1970. Over the years, Amakhosi have become the most followed Club in and around the country.

“Every anniversary brings back memories of the past,” Motaung adds. “I wish to pay tribute to all the founding members who are no longer with us. Last year, we lost two of our stalwarts, Pelé Blaschke and Petros ‘Ten-Ten’ Nzimande, both of whom played a sterling role in the foundation of Kaizer Chiefs. May their souls rest in peace.”

Amakhosi Amahle and the Phefeni Glamour Boys, two of Club’s nicknames, continue to touch the lives of many.

“I am pleased to see the Club evolving over the years, while keeping the fundamental principles of spreading Love & Peace through the CSI program,” Motaung says. “We are continuing to work in partnership with organisations such as the Reach For A Dream Foundation, which is gratifying to see.”

“Thank you to our faithful supporters,” Motaung stresses. “Without our sponsors and partners we wouldn't have reached these milestones, and I wish to recognise them all for their support.”

Happy 47th birthday Amakhosi and may we see many more years to come!
