Kaizer Chiefs have entered day four of what has thus far been an exceedingly successful project. It is the first year that there has been an active marketing of a sporting brand at the show and has attracted huge interest. The Kaizer Chiefs brand has been found to be extremely popular, not only in the traditionally black sector of the public but also in the white, Indian and Coloured demographic. This has been established by consumer behaviour, demonstrating that Kaizer Chiefs is a strong brand across the board in our multi-ethnic and diverse nation.
The 16 PSL clubs are represented by the household names Kaizer Chiefs and Jomo Cosmos at the Rand Easter Show this year. “With the likes of Jomo Cosmos, with Jomo Sono, ‘the king of soccer himself, and Kaizer Chiefs present at the show, the PSL is very well represented”, says Public relations officer for Chiefs Putco Mafani.
There are really three meaningful objectives for the club at this years event. The first being to promote Kaizer Chiefs products, for example the financial services through Hollard Insurance – that being the education/accident/funeral plans available in conjunction with the club.
There have thus far been 400 entries for the financial services with 120 applications made for the supporters club in the first three days. The stand at the show offers specials for the supporters club with discount prices for the range of cards available.
Yellow card – usually R30 –R25 at the show
Silver card – usually R80 – R70 at the show
Gold card – usually R300 – R275 at the show
The gold card acts as a season ticket as the bearer is entitled to automatic entry to all Kaizer Chiefs home games. The other benefit is that the card is valid for an extra month, concluding in May as opposed to April.
Discovery Health offers various services at the stand including the P-club which entitles the consumer to a gold card for R80 and a silver card for only R10.
Standard Bank offers the Kaizer Chiefs e-plan, further demonstrating the way in which Chiefs has opened itself to all areas for consumer benefit.
The second objective is Brand entrenchment, which has successfully been done through the various Chiefs initiatives. The PSL brand has also been brought to the forefront with Kaizer Chiefs, the African Club of the Year 2001/2002, and Jomo Cosmos present at the stands.
The third objective is one of social responsibility. In this, the year of the child, Kaizer Chiefs has shown great compassion in embracing the Khomonani project to assist the government in this valuable social programme. Brochures and pamphlets have been distributed and an awareness has been created with regard to homeless children and the Aids crisis. A hotline has been made available for this project – 0860 222 777.
The coaches and players are available for autographs and photographs allowing the supporter to rub shoulders with their heroes. Ace Khuse and Doctor Khumalo headline the event with 10 players making themselves available for the event. Uwisa Kaizer Chiefs soccer legends are also at the stand with the likes of Abel Shongwe ready with a friendly handshake.
So for everything you ever wanted to know about the club, visit the Kaizer Chiefs stand at the Hall 10 at the Rand Easter Show.
There is also plenty fun to be had.
