On Tuesday, in a telephone conversation with kaizerchiefs.com, he confirmed that prior to going on leave a week ago he signed a new two-year contract with the club and will continue working with the Chiefs goalkeepers until 2013.

Dinkelacker, who began as goalkeeper coach with Chiefs on a part-time basis in 1999 before taking up his post on a full time basis at the start of the 2006/2007 season, spoke of his joy at extending his stay with the club.

“When you have been with a team for such a long time it is fantastic that you have the chance to carry on that strong bond that you have with the management, players, technical team, head coach, fans and everyone else associated with the club.”

Dinkelacker, as he further divulged, believes that he still has a lot of work to do at the club and is glad that he will now get the opportunity to continue with his long-term project working with the Chiefs keepers.

“Itumeleng Khune is still young in goalkeeping terms and he has improved over the years. There is still a lot that we can work on and improve together.

“Also, we have a good group of keepers at the club and it pleases me to be able to carry on working with a talented and dedicated group of players.”

In the meantime, Dinkelacker is enjoying his time out in the far reaches of the country and was not aware of Khune’s heroics for Bafana Bafana in Cairo until he managed to get the information on Monday.

“Where I was over the weekend there was no cellphone reception or television. I got the information that he had a good game only yesterday. I am pleased for him and I immediately congratulated him.”

The Chiefs keeper coach will go to his homeland, Germany, at the end of the week and he will begin his preparations for next season in the next ten days.
