Kaizer Motaung elected to PSL executive

Kaizer Chiefs boss Kaizer Motaung collected the most number of votes when a new seven-person executive committee was chosen on Saturday at the Special General Meeting of the National Soccer League (NSL).



Motaung collected 142 votes in totally, followed by Ajax Cape Town's John Comitis, while Sundowns’ managing director was third.



Along with newly appointed league chairman, Irvin Khoza and PSL chief executive Trevor Phillips, the executive will formulate policy, which will then be implemented by the league, and it's employees.



The executive will also see that this policy is carried out, and will run the day-to-day affairs of soccer.



As a result, the Board of Governors (Bog) will now meet only twice a year.



The executive committee will have it's first meeting on Tuesday, February 4, 2003.



Jomo Cosmos boss Jomo Sono did not attend the meeting, and thus fell out of the running.



League CEO, Phillips, welcomed the new appointees.



"I am happy that the new is executive is geographically well-spread, and has a good balance with all the people on it experts in what they do," he said.



"I am sure that they will ensure that football in the country is properly, and transparently run."



The new executive is: Kaizer Motaung (Kaizer Chiefs), David Thidiela (Black Leopards), John Comitis (Ajax Cape Town), Mato Madlala (Golden Arrows), Nastasia Tschiclas (Sundowns), Sturu Pasiya (Bush Bucks) and George Scalcoyannis (Hellenic).
