Voting lines for the four teams to play in this year’s Telkom Charity Cup officially opened this morning and you can also make a difference by voting for Kaizer Chiefs to participate in this event.

You can vote as many times as you like provided you are dialing from a fixed landline. To vote for Amakhosi simply dial 086 22 33 807 and to check progress on our team log on to www.charitycup.co.za

All 18 teams that were in the Premier division last season will each be allocated a unique number through which their supporters can vote them in. Voters will also have an option to vote for three other teams they would like to see participating in the tournament.

Last year the vote-line ran for five weeks and a total of 257 000 votes were received. The process was managed by an accredited independent service provider VTS who “ensured a fair and transparent process”. The final results were audited and verified by Deloitte & Touche.

The Charity Cup entrenched itself as the season’s flagship opening contest for the PSL, and this year’s competition is expected to be the best ever, with a 20 percent prize money increase from R320 000 to R384 000 to be shared by the participating teams.

Meanwhile, 35 charities that work to improve the lives of the aged, the infirm, disabled and children benefitted from over R1 million raised in last year’s Charity Cup. Cheques of R26 000 each were handed over to 35 charity organisations.

The voting lines will be operational from Tuesday morning and close on midnight July 19. The announcement of the four teams and draw will take place on July 22 and the tournament itself on July 27 at FNB Stadium.
