Kaizer Chiefs will play the first of two consecutive fixtures in an extremely wet Polokwane this evening when they face Magesi FC in their 23rd league match of the season at the new Peter Mokaba stadium.
Amakhosi are aiming to complete a league double over Magesi, having beaten them 2-0 in Durban last month in their 18th match of the campaign.
The two sides find themselves in contrasting positions on the log: Chiefs sit third with 42 points from 22 games, while Magesi occupy the bottom spot with 17 points from 23 matches.
Coming off a 2-0 victory against TS Galaxy at FNB Stadium only three days ago, the Chiefs’ technical team has opted to retain the majority of the players who started that match, making only one change for tonight’s clash, with Inacio Miguel replacing Given Msimango in defence.
The team will go for a 3-4-3 formation again this evening.
Brandon Petersen will play his second match after recovering from illness.
Bradley Cross is at left-back, with Aden McCarthy at centre-back and Miguel on the right.
Lebohang Maboe will partner with Sunday’s man-of-the-match, Siphesihle Ndlovu in midfield. Wandile Duba will operate wide on the left and Thabiso Monyane on the opposite flank.
Mduduzi Shabalala, together with Glody Lilepo, who scored the second goal on Sunday, will run behind the striker.
Leading the attack is last Sunday’s goalscorer is Flavio Da Silva.
The referee is Masixole Bambiso. His assistants are Elphas Sitole and Kenny Mamegwa. The fourth official will be Olani Kwinda.
The Betway Premiership match between the Glamour Boys and Dikwena tša Meete will kick off at 19:30 at the new Peter Mokaba stadium in Polokwane, where the rain is coming down heavily.
The match is live on SuperSport’s PSL channel 202 on DStv and various SABC radio stations. There will be regular updates on the Club’s X (formerly known as Twitter) account, @kaizerchiefs.
