Hendrick Tsoaela Botsane looks like a man many years younger than the 103 he is. When seeing the 16-year-old Kaizer Motaung making his debut for Orlando Pirates, he told his friends: “This young man shows a lot of potential for a big future.” He probably didn’t realize at the time how big …

Botsane is a veteran of the Kaizer Chiefs Thokoza Supporters Branch. He enjoyed a special tour of the Village, becoming emotional upon seeing the beautiful manicured lawns of the training pitches. “This brings back so many memories of my younger days,” he enthused. “It feels like it was yesterday.”

Upon seeing the trophy cabinet, Botsane could not believe his eyes, saying: “Today I have seen things I never thought possible in my life time. I feel so honoured.”

He immediately recognised a number of the trophies such as the Mainstay Cup as well as the Datsun and JPS trophies.

The tour ended with a fitting birthday celebration together with fellow supporters. There was a birthday cake, a present from Chiefs and a birthday card signed by Chairman Kaizer Motaung. Botsane was also given a ticket to attend the Soweto Derby.

“A club that looks after its elders is a family, which is the foundation of Love & Peace,” Amakhosi Supporters Relationship Manager Tracy Williams concluded.
