In the latest issue of the magazine fans will get to see a new look Amakhosi Magazine with many more features, competitions and behind the scenes activities with Chiefs players. There is an added bonus for fans as the magazine has increased in size from 46 action filled pages, fans will from now onwards be treated to a bumper 64 pages of more news and information around The Amakhosi but remains at the same cover price.
Currently Chiefs are the only team in the PSL who bring out their own magazine on a monthly basis and have being publishing one since April 1996, the recent face lift to the Amakhosi magazine also includes a FIFA World Cup 2010 feature listing the latest developments regarding footballs show piece event which will be hosted in South Africa in just under three years time. In addition as the FIFA World Cup nears Amakhosi Magazine will feature a country whose national team could well be making an impact in South Africa come 2010. The October issue begins with a feature of current FIFA World Cup Champions Italy, and month-by-month countries from various continents will come under the spotlight.
Step forward
Kaizer Chiefs communications manager Thebe Mohatle believes that the changes in the magazine are in keeping with the clubs over all communications strategy of giving its fans as much insight into club activities as possible.
Mohatle added “the improvements to the magazine are many, for starters the editorial content is designed to shed light on aspects of the team that fans might have not been aware about. Month on month we will be looking to ensure that the publication gets better and better, right now we have made the perfect start and we will strive to ensure that we keep up with the high standard that we have set. The Amakhosi Magazine is our mouth piece and it is important for us to use it to effectively communicate with our number one stake holders who are our fans”.
Fan inclusion
The latest issue of Amakhosi Magazine includes a feature on a fan and as Mohalte explains, the idea is for Chiefs supporters to feature prominently in the coming months in the publication. “Our fans are our heart beat and we will be including more interviews and articles around supporters and their activities, in addition we will be using our home games to identify fans who we could profile for the supporters section in the future”.
