As the curtain draws on the first decade of the 21st century Kaizer Chiefs and their fans can draw a lot of happiness out of the club's achievements over the last ten years, through this time the club has continued to add to its silverware.

From the turn of the century, The Amakhosi have managed to win nine domestic cup competitions as well as one continental cup competition and two league titles, as a result they have won more trophies than any other team in South Africa over this period.

Y2K

Chiefs began the new century with a league fixture against African Wanderers on the 8th January 2000; they tasted success early on in the 21st century as they won the game at the Johannesburg Stadium 2-1.

Siyabonga Nomvete who scored a goal in the 51st minute of that match became the first Chiefs player to score a goal in a league match this century.

The inaugural year of the 21st century also saw Chiefs win their first piece of silverware as they defeated Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 in the BOB Save Super Bowl Final (now Nedbank Cup), on the 11th June 2000.

Nomvete again making history as he converted a 45th minute penalty to ultimately hand Chiefs the win and the winner’s cheque.

Toast of Africa.

During 2001 Chiefs collected a unique treble of trophies which included the club's first continental triumph in the form of the African Cup Winners Cup also known as the Nelson Mandela Cup.

The first of the three trophies Chiefs won was BP Top8 Eight in September 2001; they followed that up with victory in the Coca Cola Cup where they thumped Jomo Cosmos 5-0 in the final on the 24th November.

Six days later Chiefs won the Cup Winners Cup when they defeated Inter Clube of Angola 1-0 in the second leg of a two-legged final to win the tie 2-1 on aggregate.

The Amakhosi’s three trophy haul at the end of 2001 also saw them being awarded by the Confederation of African Football as the 2001 African Club of the Year.

League Double

The Amakhosi, after narrowly missing out on the league title a number of times, broke an eleven year drought when they won the 2003/2004 PSL Championship.

They wrapped up the title on the penultimate day of the season with a 2-0 win over Soweto rivals Moroka Swallows.

The match was played on the 29th May 2004, Collins Mbesuma calmed Chiefs' nerves with a 16th minute goal, while David Radebe was to score another in the second half to see Chiefs crowned league champions.

In the following season (2004/2005) The Amakhosi with Mbesuma leading the way, defended their league title, pipping arch-rivals Orlando Pirates to the podium with a 2-0 win over Bloemfontein Celtic on the final day of the season.
