Former winger Abel Shongwe and striker Shane MacGregor are still hugely popular with the Amakhosi supporters. They both attended Kaizer Chiefs’ activation in Pretoria’s Bloed Street Mall on Saturday afternoon.

Numerous fans queued to have a picture with the Chiefs legends and the MTN8 trophy that was on display.

The activation was planned to connect with the supporters ahead of today’s Father’s Day. Various Amakhosi merchandise was sold, including the 2014/2015 championship jersey, which was an absolute hit. The activation finishes early this Sunday afternoon (at around 1pm).

Many fans still vividly remember the crucial goals MacGregor scored for the Amakhosi, while others were delighted to see Shongwe.

“Abel, we love you,” one supporter shouted excitedly upon spotting the former winger. “He was my hero. What a player. I can’t believe that I now have the opportunity to take a picture with him. I also got his autograph on a nice Kaizer Chiefs card. After meeting Shongwe, Sunday’s Father’s Day can’t go wrong.”
