Head Coach, Donald ‘Ace’ Khuse paid a glowing tribute to the team following an emphatic 2-1 victory against Free State Stars at Charles Mopeli Stadium on Saturday, 12 May 2012.
The Glamour Boys staged a superb second half comeback with late goals from quicksilver midfielder, Siphiwe Tshabalala and Josta Dladla who scored late into the injury time.
The Amakhosi showed a ‘never-say-die’ attitude on the afternoon against tricky opponents in Free State Stars.
“The match was a revenge for the boys and it showed in the manner which they fought in the second half,” said Ace Khuse speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on Monday about the game.
“We told them at half time that they need to go all out and fight because time and again they have been bullied this season without reply. We told them it was time for them to show that they can also be fighters and we were pleased that they responded positively to the instructions.
“The turning point in the game though was when we made substitutions bringing in Mandla Masango, George (Lebese) and (Lehlohonolo) Majoro. We could see that Free State Stars was leaving gaps behind as they were pushing forward at lot.
The strategy worked as Shabba (Siphiwe Tshabalala) and Josta (Dladla) came from deep positions causing all sorts of trouble for the opposition.
Ace Khuse revealed that he personally had an one-one-one with Josta Dladla who had not seen much game time this season.
“We normally speak to the players’ ‘one- on- one’ and I personally had discussions with Josta. I am delighted that he was positive about our meeting and showed in training that he is prepared to die for the team. He has been doing well ever since he came back to the team and showed on Saturday what a quality player he can be. Josta still has a lot to offer for the team and it good to see him almost back to his best.
I do think though that credit should go to each and every one in the team in a manner that they have responded in the past couple of weeks. The competition is healthy and the spirit in the camp is high”.
