Amakhosi assistant coach Donald ‘Ace’ Khuse recently completed the first module of his South African Football Association Level 3 Coaching Course, he spoke to kaizerchiefs.com of the benefits of the beginning of the course which when completed at the end of July will see the former Chiefs midfielder earn his professional coaching license.

“We started in March and we will complete the course in July, through each of these months I will be spending ten days on the course” divulged Khuse, who then spoke of the benefits of the opening session of the level 3 course which ran from March 6-16th.

“As a coach you get to do practical work every day but it helps to add to your theoretical knowledge as well, in this course we learnt a lot especially in the use of technology.

We used various technological aids that help us to analyse players and we got to learn how to better understand the data we obtain on players performances during a game and how to use this in helping players improve their overall performance.”

Khuse is now looking ahead to the next phase of the course which will begin on the 4th of April and run for ten days and once again it will be held in Pretoria/Tshwane.

“The course has really given me more insight into my job and has assisted me a lot, at the end of the course there is a written element as a well as a practical examination and I am going to give my best to ensure that when we do the final part of the course in July I can finish top of the class.”

The Chiefs assistant coach does feel that having the opportunity to work with the Amakhosi first team as well as the Chiefs u19 team is giving him the opportunity to put his training to good use.

“It does definitely give me an edge as I get to work every day with two teams with guys who are different stages of their development, so I get the chance to practically use what I learnt to help out on the training ground in different circumstances.”
