Kaizer Chiefs Ghanaian striking sensation Louis Agyemang remains on top of the ABSA Cup goal scoring charts after the latest round of matches - even though he was unable to find the back of the net as Chiefs achieved a narrow but important 1-0 victory over Black Leopards in the ABSA Cup ¼ Finals.

The Amakhosi now move on into the Semi Finals where Agyemang will continue his quest to take away the top goal scorer of the competition award as well as the R 40 000 prize money that goes with it.

Agyemang might not have hit the back of the net against Leopards, but he did come mighty close as he struck the cross bar in the second half and also played an important role in winning Chiefs a penalty. After Agyemang was upended in the Leopards box on 49 minutes,David Obua then converted the spot kick which ultimately handed Chiefs victory.

Louis closest rivals in the race for the tops marksman award in the ABSA Cup namely Mahlatsi of Bloemfontein Young Tigers and Rudzani Ramudzuli, were both unable to add to their three goals this weekend as their respective teams bowed out of the competition.

Players whose teams are still in the competition who Louis will be hoping to increase the gap against are Tyrone Arendse and Siyabonga Nomvete of Pirates as well as Jose Torrealba and Manqoba Ngwenya of Mamelodi Sundowns.

The entire chasing quartet has so far scored two goals a piece in the tournament whereas Louis has made the back of the net bulge four times so far. His four goals have come in the form of two sets of braces, the first of which was against SuperSport United in the round of thirty two and the next one was against City Pillars in the round of sixteen.

As Chiefs prepare to take on Sundowns in the Semi Finals - there will be added impetus for Louis Agyemang to score as he will come face to face with two of his closest Challengers in the race for the Nathi Majozi award - as well as the bragging rights to be the number one marksman in South Africa’s premier cup competition.
