Ajax Cape Town pulled out all the stops at Olympia Park here on Wednesday night to return home with a 1-1 draw in an action packed Castle Premiership clash played in front of 15 000 enthusiastic Kaizer Chiefs supporters.



There was no score at half-time.



The home side were out thought by the youthful Ajax side for most of the first half with the action swinging from end to end. It was the Cape side who created more chances. But it was a different ball game after half-time.



Chiefs goalkeeper Brian Baloyi made to brilliant saves in the first period to keep the Amakhosi in the game.



The Chiefs skipper made a stunning save off a close range header from Dillon Sheppard in the 16th minute and followed that up with an even better save off Brent Carelse in the 35th minute.



Ajax impressed with the neat passing and better work rate.



Chiefs best attempt on goal came in the 12th minute when David Radebe headed wide. Grant Igesund was wide at the other end for Ajax in the 24th minute while Chiefs Jabu Pule shot over the crossbar on 29 minutes.



Chiefs started like a house on fire after the break and Josias Macamo was unlucky when he was fractional wide within 20 seconds of

the restart. Then Ajax keeper Moeneeb Josephs denied Pule with a

great save in the 51st minute.



Chiefs midfielder Stanton Fredericks had the 15 000 strong crowd

singing their heads off when he struck the opening goal from inside

the penalty area after 62 minutes. Then Macamo was again unlucky

when he hit the woodwork after 65 minutes.



Ajax silenced the crowd when substitute Nathan Paulse rattled home the equaliser a minute later. But Chiefs kept up the pressure and Thabo Mooki hit a long range effort over the Ajax crossbar in the 73rd minute.



However, despite being under pressure, the Cape outfit showed character by refusing to wilt and held on for a valuable point.
