Kaizer Chiefs obviously want to win this season’s last Absa Premiership match against Chippa United, but coach Ernst Middendorp also has an eye on next week’s Nedbank Cup final.
As a result, the German coach made a few changes to the starting line-up in comparison with last week’s clash against Free State Stars.
For example, Daniel Akpeyi is back in goal, even though he’s cup-tied for next week’s Nedbank Cup final, and Erick Mathoho makes a welcome return to the starting XI after having been out due to injury. The tall defender replaces Daniel Cardoso.
Reeve Frosler is also back into the team, playing on the left-wing, while Teenage Hadebe replaces Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya at left-back.
Middendorp has decided to go with the same three attackers as last week – Bernard Parker, Leonardo Castro and Khama Billiat.
The league fixture between Chiefs and Chippa will be played at Port Elizabeth’s Nelson Mandela Bay and will kick off at 15:00.
The referee is Victor Gomes, assisted by Luvuyo Pupuma and Mervyn van Wyk.
