NO PUBLIC PARKING AT THE SOWETO DERBY, the fans who are attending the match are advised that there will be no public parking at the stadium precinct and strictly no parking tickets will be sold on site on the day of the match.
JMDP has initiated more stringent measures to regulate parking management systems at the FNB Stadium for the upcoming Soweto Derby between the archrivals Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday, 15 March.
The following measures have been implemented:
The match is sold out, there will be a capacity crowd and gates will be opening at 11h30, so the fans are urged to arrive early. The SAPS and JMPD will enforce road closures from 09h00 in the outer NASREC precinct and no entry will be allowed without vehicle access permits. Avoid traffic congestions and missing kick-off by arriving at the stadium before 11h30.
There will be no general public parking will be allowed in the entire precinct and the offending vehicles will be towed. There will be no parking ticket sales at the Stadium on match day. Illegal (pavement) parking will be strictly regulated by the JMPD. The general public not attending the match is requested to avoid the entire NASREC precinct between 08h00 and 20h00
Available Public Transport
Public transportation will be the main form of transport to the FNB Stadium, special transport will ferry supporters to the stadium,
Rea Vaya will be operating its normal bus service every 5 minutes along its routes between Ellis Park & Thokoza Park (T1), Library Gardens East & Noordgesig (T3), to the FNB stadium. The cost is R13 for a single trip card and R25 for a return trip card, cards will be sold at all Rea Vaya Stations. Normal smart cards can be used for the service.
Metrorail, Extended Metrorail train services will be running from Vereening, Pretoria, the East Rand, West Rand, Johannesburg Park Station and Soweto at R20 per return ticket. The return trains will depart after the match from the NASREC station. Free safe and secure parking is available to ticketholders at most of the stations along the route.
TOP 6 TAXIS have organised one way taxi fares R10 and Return is R12. Taxis will depart from the Johannesburg CBD and various routes in Soweto. Pick-up and drop off points will be at the stadium transport hub.
KTK MINI BUS SHUTTLES, a mini-bus shuttle service will be running from the Grautrain, Park Station (CBD), and every 30 minutes. Return trip cost R50 and pick up times start from 12:00 and the last shuttle is at 14:00.

- N17 and Nasrec road
- Crownwood road and Booysens Reserve road
- Crownwood road and Amethyst Road
- N1 North off-ramp and N17
- Rand Show road and Aerodrome road
- Nasrec and Adcock Ingram
- Nasrec and Rand Show road
- Rand Show road and Golden Highway
- Golden Highway and Stadium Avenue
Recommended Routes to Stadium
The VIP & Hospitality ticket holders from the North are recommended to approach the Stadium from the North via the N17 (Access off the N1 North). The VIP & Hospitality from the South are advised to use the Soweto Highway (Access off the N1 South) and from the East via Rand Show Road (Access off the N12 South).
