Amakhosi will rue their missed chances against Classic as they had the opportunity to cut the lead on Orlando Pirates going into this weekend’s Soweto Derby by three points.
In the end both teams shared the points in a balanced game which was played for the most part at a pedestrian pace, unlike the Coca Cola Cup game between the two teams played on Saturday which was played at a frantic pace.
Both teams had the opportunity to have won the game Chiefs first real chance came when Classic’s keeper Aime Kitenge spilled a cross come shot by Scara Ngobese but the on running Chiefs players were unable to capitalize on the opportunity.
Four minutes later after some nice inter passing between a number of Chiefs players the ball was laid off to David Mathebula who unleashed a thunderous shot which was equally spectacularly saved by Kitenge.
As the first half wound down Graham King brought out the best in Emile Baron as the Amakhosi keeper saved superbly with his feet in a one on one situation with the Classic’s midfielder.
Chiefs started the second half brightly with substitute Agyemang going close with a shot at goal early on, the highlight of the second half been an acrobatic save made by Baron off an overhead kick from Bradley August from just inside the 5 yard area.
Chiefs will be disappointed not to have taken all three points away, but will be pleased to have got this game out of the way and will start thinking about Pirates.
