At four o’clock this morning a car arrived at Chiefs Village with four Amakhosi supporters coming from the Western Cape. “Sorry, we are a bit early,” they told to the security guards. “We will wait at the parking until the retail shop opens at nine, as we want to buy the new championship t-shirt before travelling to Pretoria to watch the Sundowns match this evening.”

This championship t-shirt (2014/2015 league champions) has gone on sale today and is selling at R199

The four had left Cape Town on Tuesday afternoon at 13:00.

They are Primrose Kroza (Stellenbosch Branch), Khangelani Ntitshane (Lower Crossroads Branch), Thando November (Nyanga Branch) and Chaklas Matiyasa (Site C Branch).

“We needed to come,” enthused Kroza. “Sundowns! We can’t miss that one!”

Mayiyasa added that they always travel as far as needed for the big games: “We were here for the Derby in March and we also went to Durban for the MTN8 final last year.”

“We have also already planned to attend Chiefs’ last league match against Chippa United on Saturday, May 9,” adds November. “That’s when we get the Absa Premiership trophy. We have to be there!”

Amakhosi play Mamelodi Sundowns away tonight at Atteridgeville’s Lucas Moripe Stadium (kick-off at 19:30).
