The Kaizer Chiefs first team returned from their off-season holidays on Monday morning and, under the guidance of Assistant coaches Donald ‘Ace’ Khuse and Arthur Zwane as well as physical trainer Joshua Smith, conducted their first training session as they began their preparations for the 2011/2012 season, which kicks off in around seven weeks' time.

Speaking to kaizerchiefs.com after the light training session, which lasted for an hour and forty minutes ‘Ace’ Khuse confirmed that head coach Vladimir Vermezovic will be in charge for the teams next session on Tuesday.

As he said, “the coach needed to round up some personal work abroad and I am happy to report that he will be here on Tuesday and will get to put the guys through their paces.”

Of the session itself Khuse was pleased to report that everything went as planned, “we did not push too hard today it was an easy session, from what we gauged everyone coped well and hopefully things will pick up in the weeks ahead.”

Joshua Smith the teams physical trainer further explained what the Chiefs first team players can expect over the coming week in terms of their training regime, “today was a very light session because on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday we have the guys going for medical tests.

So we opted to do some jogging and core work, this session was also used to get the news guys acclimatized to working with the team. As far as I am concerned everyone has returned looking good physically, given the chilly weather the warm up lasted slightly longer as we try to avoid anyone picking up any hamstring injuries.”

Smith further confirmed that striker Lucky Khune and defender Dominic Isaacs who underwent operations in the off season were part of the session, “both Dominic and Lucky did good in the training. They did great work with David Milner and Jose Cox our physiotherapists and as it stands they are in fine shape, we will put that in our report to the coach.”
