This was after the reigning Premiership champions were held to a
1-1 draw by the Limpopo outfit Dynamos at FNB Stadium on Wednesday
night.
Rangers also registered a similar result on the same day,
playing to a 1-1 draw with Lamontville Golden Arrows in a
KwaZulu-Natal derby.
It promises to be an exciting game with the Mighty Maulers
pledging to end the dominance enjoyed by Amakhosi over them.
Rangers, who are coached by former Orlando Pirates striker Ian
Palmer, are still to beat Chiefs since the league was established
in 1996.
"Our dominance over Rangers will continue, we cannot afford to
drop even a single point after Wednesday's draw," said Chiefs
spokesman Putco Mafani.
"We will find ourselves in serious trouble at the end of the
season if we are not consistent, we have to close down the gap
between ourselves and log leaders Orlando Pirates."
Chiefs have
played four games since the start of the new year - beating Santos
1-0, going down 1-0 to Moroka Swallows, walloping Bloemfontein
Celtic 4-1 and the draw against Dynamos.
Rangers started the new year on a high note after beating Bush
Bucks 3-2, lost 1-0 to Jomo Cosmos and the midweek draw against
Arrows.
Palmer said they were expecting a tough match against Chiefs,
who are expected to arrive in Durban on Saturday.
"Chiefs are a good side with some brilliant players, but I think
we have a pretty good chance of pocketing the three points," he
said.
Rangers will be without midfielder Teboho Tsiu who is serving a
one match suspension after collecting his third yellow card on
Wednesday.
