Parker’s contract is extended by one season ending in June 2021. Parker joined Chiefs in July 2011 ahead of the 2011-12 season and will now be at the club until June 2021 which will meant that he would have spent a decade at the team. Parker made his debut for Chiefs on 7th August 2011 against Bidvest Wits in a 2-1 win for Chiefs in an MTN8 quarterfinal clash. Since joining Chiefs, he has played in 295 games for Amakhosi scoring 55 goals and has played a lead role in helping Chiefs win two league titles in 2012-13 and 2014-15. He also won the 2012-13 Nedbank Cup with Chiefs scoring the game winner as Amakhosi defeated SuperSport United 1-0 in the final. He also won the MTN8 with Chiefs in the 2014-15 season.
Also, Willard Katsande has his contract extended with a season ending in June 2021. Katsande made 272 appearances for Chiefs and has scored 17 goals for the club. He joined Chiefs around the same time as Parker ahead of the 2011-12 season, coming to Chiefs from Ajax Cape Town in August 2011. He has won two league titles during his time with Chiefs in 2012-13 and 2014-15 in addition to the Nedbank Cup in 2012-13 and the MTN 8 in 2014-15. Katsande made his official debut for Chiefs in a 2-1 league win for Chiefs against Pirates on the 17th September 2011. The extension to Katsande’s contract will see him also spend a decade at the club. Katsande has played in 16 games in all competitions for Chiefs this season.
Goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi who joined Chiefs in January 2019 has earned himself a two-year contract extension to June 2022. The Nigerian international made his debut for Chiefs in a league game on the 9th February 2019 in a 1-1 home draw against Orlando Pirates. Akpeyi has featured in 18 games in all competitions for Chiefs in the 2019-20 season, making 16 league appearances and 2 in the Telkom Knockout Cup.
Meanwhile, in the Technical Team, goalkeeper coach Lee Baxter earns himself a further two years extending his existing contract to June 2022.
Parker and Katsande will be looking towards winning a third league title with Chiefs, while Akpeyi who has kept 7 clean sheets in the league this term will be aiming to continue his good showings between the sticks as Chiefs look to hold onto top spot on the league standings.
