Kaizer Chiefs returned from Morocco on Tuesday to prepare for the crucial Absa Premiership clash against bottom side AmaZulu on Thursday, 9 April, at the Peter Mokaba stadium in Polokwane. Despite dominating both legs of their CAF Champions League first round tie, Amakhosi were unfortunate to go down to a 3-0 aggregate defeat to Raja Casablanca.
“We are very disappointed to come away from Casablanca empty handed but on the positive side, the performance of the team was very good and we gained valuable experience from the trip,” said coach Stuart Baxter. “I am confident that if we can maintain our form, we will turn it into valuable points in the league.”
In every season, the measure of the best team in the country is always the league championship and the Glamour Boys remain in top spot on the PSL log table. The team’s last league outing produced a comprehensive 3-0 win over eternal rivals Moroka Swallows and Chiefs hold a handy eight point lead over their nearest challengers Mamelodi Sundowns, albeit having played one more game.
Kaizer Chiefs marketing director Jessica Motaung added, “We are still in pole position on the PSL log and we shall be focusing all of our energy for the rest of the season on regaining the domestic league title, starting with the match against Usuthu. We call on all our supporters in Limpopo to come out in large numbers and inspire the boys to greatness on Thursday at the Peter Mokaba stadium.”
Tickets are available at Computicket, Shoprite and Checkers outlets, at a cost of R40 for adults and R10 for children under the age of 12. The match kicks off at 19h00 and fans are encouraged to come out in their droves in support of the team.
