Keagan Dolly is delighted that his form for Kaizer Chiefs has led to him again realising his childhood dream of representing his country’s national football team.

Dolly’s been in irresistible form down the attacking right wing for Amakhosi this season, hitting the ground running for the Gold and Black and forcing his way into national coach Hugo Broos’ reckoning.

While he’s super excited to be heading to Belgium to play Guinea and then on to France next week to play world champions Les Bleus, he’s focused on the job at hand for Chiefs in their important home DStv Premiership fixture this weekend against Golden Arrows.

“As a youngster, I always wanted to be part of the Bafana setup. It shows I’m doing well for my club Kaizer Chiefs. It’s another challenging week for us against Golden Arrows, then I can start focusing on Bafana,” Dolly told www.kaizerchiefs.com as he gave the assurance that his mind is wandering further than the FNB Stadium this weekend.

Amakhosi host Arrows at FNB Stadium on Saturday, exactly two weeks after beating Orlando Pirates in the Soweto derby at Orlando Stadium.

And Dolly is one of those Amakhosi players made for the big occasion, who is particularly gutted at the continued absence of the club’s fan base from the stadium.

“I think it’s going to be another tough game. I don’t think there’s any easy game in the PSL, especially without the supporters. Anywhere you play, it feels like you are playing at home because there’s no pressure on the so-called smaller teams because when they come to FNB (Stadium) it’s empty. They don’t feel any pressure,” said Dolly.

He has the utmost respect for Arrows, but is adamant Amakhosi have to control their own destiny and keep making their way up the table.

“We’ve been doing well the past few games. It’s another one we need to concentrate on and just apply ourselves on the day. I don’t think we need to focus on the end of the season and where we want to be. Each game we need to perform. I think we’ve been doing that since we came back from our Nedbank Cup loss. For us, it’s just to continue to grow as a team and as individuals. I believe if the team does well, I’ll do well. I don’t look at myself as the only one scoring goals. It’s more about helping the team at the end of the day and that’s what I have been doing,” says Dolly.

With Arrows preparation paramount, Dolly does allow himself to wander a bit to France, a country he spent four years in playing in Ligue1 at Montpellier.

“I didn’t expect to go back to France so soon. But it is good memories; going back to see the stadiums that I played in. Perhaps I’ll get to see the people that I know from France. So, it will be good to be back in France,” says Dolly.

His experience will be important for a youthful Bafana as they face a French side who have named the likes of Paul Pogba, Karim Benzema, Antoine Griezmann, Kingsley Coman and Kylian Mbappe in a strong squad for the friendly in Lille on 29 March.

“Just to get to share my experiences with the boys (is amazing). It’s a new team, we are going to be playing one of the top teams in the world, France. They’ve got good players who are playing in the highest leagues around the world,” says Dolly.
