Kaizer Chiefs will take on the Madagascan National team in a friendly game at the Eldorado Park Stadium in Eldorado Park, which lies South of the Johannesburg CBD, and in close proximity to Soweto, on Wednesday afternoon.

The Madagascan national team nicknamed the Barea named after a kind of Zebu (a species of cattle), which is also depicted on the countries national coat of arms as well as on the logo of the Malagasy Football Federation. The Madagascans are in the country for the next couple of days on their way home from Mozambique, where they participated in the COSAFA Cup play offs where they managed to finish in a notable third place.

The Madagascan’s might not have made it through to the semi – final stage of the tournament but they did give a good account for themselves as they narrowly lost to Zimbabwe by a goal to nil on Saturday. They followed that up with a 5-0 demolition of Seychelles on Sunday, with attacking midfielder Paulin Voavy scoring hat trick which helped him collect his second man of the match award of the weekend. Voavy impressed a number of the scribes who were in the Mozambican Capital over the weekend, and a result also won the man of the match prize for his eye-catching display against the Zimbabweans.

The Amakhosi will have their eye on keeping him under check on Wednesday, as he has proven that he can be a handful and if given freedom to move around easily he could make the Chiefs defence work over time on Wednesday.

Wednesday’s game will also not be the first time that The Amakhosi have taken on a national team of any country, back in 2005 Chiefs hosted the Zambian national team to a friendly game and with the aid of Collins Mbesuma. Who opted to play for Chiefs instead of his country The Amakhosi won the game 2-1, the game will also be Chiefs third outing against Madagascan opposition.

As The Amakhosi have come face to face with Madagascan teams USJF Ravinala and USC Cafoot in African Club competition. Chiefs coach Kosta Papic will be looking towards his team keeping up their record of never having lost a game against a team from Madagascar in open play on Wednesday, he knows that even though they are ranked 182nd on the Fifa Rankings they could well prove to be a stern test of his teams character.

The game is expected to kick off at 15h00 at Eldorado Park on Wednesday afternoon and entrance for the game is free, at the conclusion of the game the Madagascans will head back to the Kaizer Chiefs Village with the Chiefs team where the Amakhosi will have laid on a post match meal for them.
