A quartet of Chiefs players including defender Dominic Isaacs, striker Lucky Khune as well as South Africa u-20 player Tshegofatsu Ramabu and reserve goalkeeper Jayden Smith are all recovering well after undergoing various surgeries during the off season, this was confirmed to kaizerchiefs.com by Amakhosi physiotherapist David Milner.

Isaacs who featured in a total of 25 games for Chiefs during the 2010 – 2011 season underwent surgery on a damaged cartilage in his knee a fortnight ago and Milner confirmed to kaizerchiefs.com that the defender has been making good progress as he works his way back to full fitness.

“Thankfully Dominic has been coming along well we have had plenty of time in the off season to work with him and he has been responding positively to the treatment, we expect him to be fully recovered in the next ten days.

We are hopeful that when we return to pre-season training on the 27th June he will start light training and the idea is for him to resume normal training a week later.”

Kaizerchiefs.com caught up with Isaacs who as he explained he is pleased to have the surgery out of the way, “I had a talk with the coach and David Milner towards the end of last season. The suggestion was that I go for light surgery in the offseason so that I can be fully fit for the new campaign, so far the decision has worked out.”

Isaacs this week began light training on his own and as he further added his recovery process is moving in the right direction, “I began gym work recently working on strength training exercises, I began jogging on Monday and have trained twice a day since.

I can’t say that I have no pain because I have not been pushing myself much, I am hoping to be ready for the pre-season that is my objective.”

Likewise Milner is pleased with the way the other players have been recovering and said of their injuries, “Lucky Khune had a groin operation and we are hopeful that he will be fully fit in the next week or so, the other two guys Tshegofatsu and Jayden have both had knee operations.

We do believe that their lay off is slightly longer and they will need between two to three months to recover.”
