The year in which South Africa hosted the 2010 FIFA World Cup is in its final week and with it comes the Amakhosi's final Absa Premiership fixture of 2010 this evening at the Puma Rugby Stadium against Mpumalanga Black Aces.

Having shrugged off a recent run of losses with victory this past weekend against BIDVest Wits Chiefs will be looking to continue on that run and in so doing will be looking to keep pace with league leader's Mamelodi Sundowns and second placed Orlando Pirates.

The History

Chiefs and Aces have a long history of playing against each other going back back three decades, since 1985 Chiefs and Aces have faced each other in twenty games with the Amakhosi having won seventeen of these while Aces have managed to win four of them.

Last season this fixture was a thrilling three all draw and it was one of just five draws played between the teams. In the PSL era the teams have squared off four times with Chiefs having won three of these the first meeting between the teams in the PSL was during the inaugural season of the league in 1996 - 1997 a game which Chiefs won 7-2.

Recent Form

Of their last five league outings Chiefs have managed to win two of these and it would please coach Vladimir Vermezovic that his team were able to turn things around with their win over Wits, the Chiefs coach will also have kpet an eye on another stat.

That being Chiefs performances in their last match before the PSL summer recess, over the past five seasons Chiefs have drawn three and won two of these games but they are high scoring encounters averaging at around 3.2 goals per game. Chiefs have scored nine goals while conceeding seven in this game in the past five seasons. Aces in the meantime have lost their last four games in succession their most recent being a 4-0 loss to Amazulu in Durban on Sunday.

Missing out

Chiefs will be missing through suspension goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune and midfielder Mandla Masango who were yellow carded during the win over Wits, Masango looked lively while used as a substitute in Chiefs last two league outings and was unfortunate not to have scored in both games as he had efforts hit the cross bar in both outings. Aces will be minus striker Mpho Maleka who has scored six of their nine goals this term.
