ABSA Premier League
Playing Conditions: Warm light easterly wind, temperature at kick off 26 °C
Kaizer Chiefs host Lamontville Golden Arrows on Wednesday evening in Tshwane and will be looking to break the recent spate of draws, which has seen them earn a point a piece from their last four league meetings against Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, Amazulu and Santos.
Muhsin Ertugral has had to again make changes to his starting eleven, and has been unable to keep the start with the same eleven players who began Chiefs last match on Sunday which was a goalless draw with Santos in Cape Town.
Mokete Tsotetsi makes a return after almost six weeks on the sidelines to match day action and Shaun Bartlett who was injured during the Telkom Cup final, and also suspended for the Amazulu encounter makes his first start for Chiefs since the 24th November when Chiefs drew with Orlando Pirates in Durban.
Back line change
With both Ditheko Mototo and Onismor Bhasera suspended for the game Muhsin Ertugral has had to use a stop gap in the form of David Obua to fill in at left back, Obua has in the past played in the left back position and it will not be entirely new territory for him.
The most significant change at the back for this game is the return of Moketi Tsotetsi to the starting line up, after featuring in nine of Chiefs opening ten games Tsotetsi has not seen any action since the 4th November when he started during Chiefs 2-1 loss to Moroka Swallows.
Tsotetsi replaces Jimmy Tau who has been left out of the team altogether for Wednesday’s game, Fabian McCarthy returns to the match day eighteen after being omitted from the game against Santos.
Bartlett in attack
Muhsin Ertugral has altered his formation for the game and has replaced the two players who started in attack on Sunday, and is using Shaun Bartlett as the lone front man with Gerald Sibeko playing in front of the midfielders in a supporting role assisting Bartlett in attack.
David Mathebula starts in central midfield and will be looked at to give Chiefs a creative Spark in the middle of the park, Ertugral was not happy over the weekend as his team were unable to get a single shot on target in the second half of the draw with Santos.
Thabo Mooki who like Bartlett picked up an injury in the Telkom Cup Final takes the place of Thuso Phala on the bench, where he is joined by Kaizer Motaung Junior and Mabhudi Khenyeza the latter will be hoping to get some game time against his former team.
