Amakhosi magazine has a monthly readership in the region of around 1.17 million per issue, which according to Chiefs Brand Manager Dara Carroll is a positive sign for the club. She believes that the magazine can continue growing its readership base in addition to strengthening its position as the official mouthpiece of the club.
Twelve year celebration
It is ironic that as the Amakhosi Magazine celebrated its twelfth year on the shelves at the start of March, it has managed to work its way to number 12 on the list of the top 20 most read magazines. Amakhosi Magazine began back in March 1996 as a quarterly publication which made its appearance three times a year. All that changed in mid 1999 when it was produced on a monthly basis and has since been distributed around South Africa as well as some neighbouring countries. At the present time of the 16 PSL teams Chiefs are the only team to have a monthly magazine.
Fans read
Carroll tells kaizerchiefs.com that she is hopeful that the strong growth in readership and over all sales being made by the club's official magazine will continue over the next three seasons. As she said “it is a good sign for us if our magazine is doing so well, as it shows that the people working on the publication are on the right track with the job they are doing. We need to continue working towards ensuring that we move up the list and get more readers, the only way to do that would be to continue improving the magazine on a month by month basis. Right at the moment I feel that we are doing that, also we will be looking at ways to make the magazine available to more of our fans”.
