Amakhosi out to avenge November defeat
Amakhosi out to avenge November defeat

With the PSL title now almost well out of Chiefs grasp - Amakhosi’s focus will be firmly on their ABSA Cup semifinal date with current log leaders and Heirs apparent to the throne Mamelodi Sundowns.

Chiefs still have the small task of playing out the remainder of their PSL matches beginning this weekend when they travel to Rustenburg to take on a much-improved Silver Stars team. It was back in November when Stars stunned Chiefs when they inflicted The Amakhosi with their first defeat of the season in a game, which Stars won by a convincing 4-2 score line.

Stars have had a great run in the league in 2005-2006 and have showed to many that they are not in the PSL just to make up the numbers. There was a stage in the campaign when Stars looked as though they could have caused a major upset. A string of poor results eventually put paid to their championship ambitions although they could be a real threat in the new season. Chiefs will be looking at this game to end the season on a high and will be hoping to be as close as possible to the top two at the end of the season, by taking three points off Stars on Sunday they would have achieved this.

Going into this game Chiefs should have the upper hand, as Stars have not been in competitive action since the 8th of April when they were narrowly defeated 1-0 by Sundowns. This should allow Chiefs the edge as Amakhosi has been keeping busy with a regular diet of PSL and ABSA Cup matches.
