The Amakhosi will be hoping that after a three-year break they will be able to collect the three points, when they renew their rivalry with Leopards in an Absa Premiership clash to be played at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
Games in the past between Leopards and Chiefs have been fairly high scoring, with the 14 league clashes between the sides producing 40 goals, at an average of around 2.86 goals per game.
Currently in fourth place, Chiefs will be looking to the game against Leopards to get back to winning ways after losing their last league game against Golden Arrows. A win could see the Amakhosi getting back towards the top of the table by the end of the weekend.
The History
Chiefs and Leopards have clashed a total of 14 times in league action. The Amakhosi currently shade the head to head meetings between the sides, having won six to Leopards' four wins, while a further four games ended in a draw.
Chiefs, though, have not managed to win any of their last three league encounters against Leopards, losing two and drawing one. The Amakhosi’s last league win over Lidoda Duvha was a 3-1 success, which was away from home in November 2006.
Chiefs do have a fine away record against Leopards and that could count favourably for them. Over their seven trips to face Leopards they have won four games, three of those victories coming in their last five games at Leopards.
The teams met for the first time during Leopards' inaugural season in the Absa Premiership, back in September 2001, in a game that ended 2-2.
During the 2003/2004 season Chiefs recorded their largest victory over Leopards, a 5-0 win at Ellis Park in a mid-week clash that saw John ‘Shoes’ Moshoeu score a hat-trick.
Last time out
Chiefs and Leopards' last meeting came in Thoyandou on the final day of the 2007/2008 season. It was a must win game for Leopards, who needed three points to avoid relegation.
Although they did manage to win the game 1-0, results elsewhere did not go favourably for them. After spending seven consecutive seasons in the PSL, Leopards were eventually relegated via the relegation playoffs.
It was a Sunday of high drama as Chiefs had goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune sent off and ended the game with ten men.
