Kaizer Chiefs reached another Premier Soccer League era milestone on Saturday afternoon when they played to a goalless draw against fellow table toppers Free State Stars in Phutadijaba, in an Absa Premiership clash.



The point earned against Steve Komphela’s side was Chiefs 7th of the current league campaign, and was their 900th since the formation of the PSL back in 1996-1997. The Amakhosi are the first team to have accumulated 900 points in this time, with their Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates the closest to them with 897 points.



The match was Chiefs’ 507th in the PSL and was their 162nd draw, which translated means that the Amakhosi have collected 738 points or as a percentage 82% of their points have come from their 246 victories. While 162 of their points have come off draws, which is 18% of their total points collected.



In average the Amakhosi have managed to pick up 1.77 points a game over their 507 PSL encounters, currently the highest average amongst all the teams who have featured in each of the PSL’s campaigns since 1996-97



Chiefs picked up their first points in the PSL with a 1-0 win in an away game against Jomo Cosmos during their first game in the inaugural season of the league in 96-97, the late Thabang Lebese was on the score-sheet for Chiefs 16 years ago when they won three points. The Challenge now for The Amakhosi is the race to 1000 points.
