Kaizer Chiefs will today, Friday, 6 January, resume with their training after the festive break.



Amakhosi went into this break occupying a healthy fourth spot on the Absa Premiership log.



Five players went into the break with an injury: George Lebese (back problem), William Twala (calf muscle), Tsepo Masilela (groin), Enocent Mkhabela (abdominal pain) and Itumeleng Khune, who sat on the bench for the last few matches as a result of a niggling back pain. The medical team will assess all the players and a full injuries update will be provided.



Five players will be absent from the training grounds on Friday. Willard Katsande will lead Zimbabwe National Team in Gabon’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, which will start on 14 January 14 and ends on 5 February.



The other four players absent from training will be Emmanuel Letlotlo, Lorenzo Gordinho, Siyanda Ngezana and Ryan Moon. They are with English Championship side Fulham on an experimental visit and are due back on 12 January.



Four players will be on trial during this period. Striker Gustavo Paez (26) from Italy and defender Pedro Henrique Dias DeAmorim (24) from Brazil. Defenders Miracle Gabeya(20) and Ismael Olivier Toure (19) are respectively from Malawi and Ivory Coast. The club will make an announcement if there are player movements during the transfer window, which opened on 3 January and will close on 31 January.



The team will use the Afcon recess to prepare for second half of the 2016/17 season. Amakhosi will resume their fixtures at home against Free State Stars on 7 February.
