The Birchwood Hotel graciously sponsored the young ladies, played host and provided accommodation, meals, complete hospitality, and rehearsal space.
The professional choreographers, Penny Thloloe and Belmont Muoe, put the new squad of Shakers through an intense programme of 3-hour rehearsals twice a day plus exercise classes. The programme also included presentations and workshops, and a professional photography session by Hirt & Carter.
Despite working from sun up to sun down, the squad also enjoyed movie night, and a relaxing atmosphere at the hotel where they were pampered and well looked after by the hotel staff that pledged their support for the Mighty Amakhosi.
The objectives of the camp were to intensify rehearsals, minimise distractions, and expose the young ladies to the Kaizer Chiefs history, philosophy, and brand to give them a full understanding of being a cheerleader for a football club of this calibre. The young ladies described the camp as tough but fun, and were happy to have time to bond with each other.
All the cheerleaders that completed the camp received certificates, Kaizer Chiefs hampers including facial and skincare products, and an 8 x 10 photo of the Shakers team at camp. The new squad will cheer the Kaizer Chiefs Senior Team on and entertain the Amakhosi faithful at all home games this season.
As a follow up to the camp, all the Amakhosi Shakers will receive free spa treatments form Mabs Health and Body Treatment Café, The science of Good Living. This was routine that Ms. Jessica Motaung, Kaizer Chiefs Marketing Manager felt the young ladies should carry into their lives.
Kaizer Chiefs would like to thank Mr. Jazzman Mahlakgane, Marketing Director of the Birchwood Hotel & Conference Centre for sponsoring the Amakhosi Shakers Camp 2006/07, and to all the staff at the hotel, thank you for taking such great care of the cheerleaders, choreographers and coordinators.
Kaizer Chiefs thanks the choreographers Ms. Thloloe and Mr. Muoe for their hard work and creativity. Thank you to Mr. Hilton Sebulela and Trevor Hlatswayo (DJ Nigeria) of Siyayenza Communications and Events for providing the sound and AV equipment.
Thank you to Mr. Tobias Ginsberg, Hirt & Carter Photographer for donating his time and materials. Kaizer Chiefs extends its gratitude to Mr. Ken H, Simmons, II, Ms. Kemiso Motaung, and Ms. Matshediso Thella for organising, managing, and running a very successful camp.
