The Kaizer Chiefs senior team’s training activities have been disrupted by the ongoing construction work and they have had to move their practice sessions away from the village to the FNB Stadium, where they were put through their paces by head coach Ernst Middendorp and his deputy Frank Eulberg.
Commenting on having to relocate to the FNB Stadium for training the Chiefs assistant coach said “in the long term the work being carried out on the fields at the village is important. At the moment we are busy negotiating for space with construction vehicles and work men so it was better for us to move to FNB”. Chiefs will once again train at FNB Stadium on Friday morning before heading out to Polokwane for the Limpopo Soccer Tournament.
A new drainage and state of the art sprinkler system is being installed at the Chiefs village while pitch one was under construction pitch 2 was available for training.
As the construction work has become more complicated, the team laying the new infrastructure have required more space as the number of workers working on the project has increased and they have needed to bring on more equipment on to the working area.
Once completed the new drainage system will allow for Chiefs to be able to train under various weather conditions, especially during the rainy season, which coincides with the South African Soccer Season.
